More Floral Studies

I'm having a ball! The workshop I'm taking has energized me so much and has given me the chance to take some time off from two other large pieces that are taking much longer than I thought to finish. I have also been having fun preparing my own pastel surfaces with the colors I like.

The tulips were my first study from yesterday's workshop. I purposely used the busy fabric because the colors reflected those of the tulips and the vase, but also because I wanted to force myself not to give much detail to the background.

After the tulips, the daffodils seemed like a piece of cake but those flowers are difficult to paint if one starts with the brightest yellow. I had to tone them down by adding pale greens and lavender to the shaded areas.

Both are really nice, Adriana, but I LOVE those tulips! I hope that painting ends up in a frame. After we move I look forward to visiting the Gallery of CNY where I see that Mary Padgett is one of the artists represented. I'm so glad this workshop is such a good one for you!

Hi Donna and thank you! I see possibilities in that painting too, but I do not feel ready yet to start something similar and reach a finished level that is between this one and how I paint my landscapes. At the moment, it's my alter ego who's painting the flowers! It's a bit daunting...

Adriana wow very different from landscapes. I really like this one it has a drama to it.
They all look like you learned alot.

Will you try to add some of this into your landscapes?

Hi Betsy! Thank you for visiting!
I like the idea of painting flowers in a different way from my landscapes. I have to give it a try!
