Cumulus Cloud, 8x10" -Sold

The variable weather we've been having has gotten me in the mood to paint skies.

This small painting took me longer to finish than I had expected. Somehow, clouds always look so inviting and easy to paint but once I start painting them I realize that it's not so easy after all to represent their three dimensionality.

I've just got another idea for a different version of this... I'll better get to work on it!

Lovely sky, Adriana. Smaller paintings always seem to take longer I think. I'll be interested to see what the next version is like.

The clouds are 3-D - I like the purples you've used to create that, also the touches of other colours. Love the touches of yellow in the foreground.

This sky is so amazing, Adriana!!! Adding that little purple and pink made it more outstanding! Love it! It almost looks like a picture.

Adriana, had to delete my comment because of bad spelling!! How embarressing, and I am so sorry. Your cloud painting is beautiful, and inspiring to me-- -I had to comment. I look always at cluds, and hope to paint a believable painting of them one day!

FortyPoundSack, Thank you!
Ida, Thanks to you too! Deb Secor makes clouds look so easy to paint that several times I have started cloudscapes only to give up on them. For this one though, once I was happy with the outline of the cloud and the base colors, I stopped looking at the reference photo and added colors keeping in mind the 3 dimensionality of the cloud. At the end I also intensified the colors a little bit.
