This pastel was painted from the same location as the previous post, from Barker Street in Otisco, although the view looks more towards the west. The colors are so different because it was done in the morning. It took about two hours to complete, with the barest of tweaking at home.As it often happens when I start painting on location, there is some concern involved. I wonder what to include and what to leave out. I ask myself if I will have enough time to complete the painting or lay down the basic features before the light changes, so I could finish it at home. I do not like to return to the same location to finish a painting simply because the conditions are not likely to be the same, and I might see the place with different eyes. Finishing from a photo reference is out of the question for me nowadays, because I have ended up with scenes that have lost the original feeling.

I'm certainly eager to see what the area looks like now and paint it, but it's been raining and raining... The weather fronts keep on moving so fast that one moment is sunny an cloudy the next. Fall splendor has not reach Central NY yet so I'm still hoping to get a chance.
Really nice painting Adriana! It does have a soft, morning look. Maybe we just need to improve our memory since we can't rely on photos for finishing our work. They never help me either and I just end up adding in all the junk that is in them! I'm glad you're out painting!
Hi Donna, Thank you for your comments. I wish finishing something from memory would work all the time, but as of lately, I'm realizing that in order to do that successfully --meaning ending up with something I'm happy with, the scene has to grab me in such way that it leaves a strong imprint in me.
