First Plein Air of the Year

Green Lakes in Spring, 9"x12"
A friend recently got a new easel and she wanted to try it outdoors so she suggested we go painting somewhere. I don't think we could have chosen a better place than Green Lakes State Park.

I have painted there before and I'm always fascinated by how fast the water changes on a breeze day. In the hour and a half we stood at the spot I figured I could have painted that scene in at least ten different ways.

Wow! You get such a finished look for your plein air work, Adriana. This is gorgeous and that water couldn't have been done better! Did you do an underpainting of some sort?

Hi Donna, Thank you for commenting!
I used no underpainting at all. I was using Australian Gray Colourfix paper which is pinkish and that helped. This is one of those rare ones that are finished in one session with very little tweaking back home. I hope it heralds better ones for this year!

This is really beautiful Adriana. I can't believe you can complete this in one sitting outdoors. I love the shallow green in the water - lovely!

Hi Elaine! Thank you, and really nice to hear from you! The color is sometimes so gorgeous and enticing that some people jump into the water risking a very steep fine. There is a public beach area, but most of the lake is out of limits for swimmers.
