On the Hill, sold

Tomorrow Thursday, I'll be participating at the Newhouse Craft Fair, at Syracuse University. I was lucky that a potter friend of mine referred me to the organizer, so I'll be the only artist showing paintings. I'll run from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. in the Food.com area of the Newhouse III building (Waverly Ave.).

This painting, which is 7 1/2" x 9 1/2", will be for sale at the event. It's based on a photo I took this summer from the Onondaga Community College area.

This is also my second painting that kind of "paints itself". I did not have any problems while executing it, and most important of all, I knew when to quit. Of course, it's a very simple composition, but I've ruined many paintings by overworking them.

Adriana, it's just so elegant and lyrical! Real beauty here. I admire the restraint, yet each stroke speaks of something. Those that 'paint themselves' are few and far between, but worth all the work that has to be done in the interim.

Hope you sell lots!

This is a beautiful painting Adriana, and I wish you well at the fair.

I really love the sky - it has a feeling of movement and openness that is really appealing.

Adriana, nicely done. The clouds are wispy and colored just right. I like, too, how just the tops of trees are showing. You use good colors; not too colorful, like some pastels can get.

Thank you all for commenting and wishing me well at the fair. I was hoping to do better but I only sold two paintings. Well, one was an even exchange with my friend the potter who was next to me.

Deborah, I'm starting to think that perhaps it's the paper (both were on soft umber Colourfix...) ;-)

Elaine, Nice to hear from you! I'm glad that you felt it conveyed the idea of openness.

Matthew,I have to confess that once in a while I do get carried away with colors. So far I've noticed that I keep a very limited palette when I'm painting very simple compositions, and that has helped a lot.
